La Pacificia is a hacienda dating back to the 1800's and currently is a resort of wonderful relaxation and rural beauty. It maintains itself by growing its own vegetables, beef and fish all of which are served in its 5-star restaurant. In fact, La Pacificia boasts as the the first organic rice producer in Costa Rica and maintains this claim today. This is an all inclusive resort complete with pool, restaurant, horseback riding and a short drive to the beach, (if you just have to leave). Usually when we arrive, we stay right there until we leave. This past weekend we enjoyed sunny weather at the pool and excellent rain showers in the afternoon where we gathered under the deep veranda for glasses of wine and fine meals. You can just feel your blood pressure steady decline in this environment. Our dear friend, Luis Erra is the manager and you just could not expect to find better service and hospitaliy. This resort is a treasure!

This pool is right beside the open air restaurant. Nice touch.
There are deer which freely wander the grounds. This fellow came by to say hello as we were having lunch.
The main entrance leading back toward the cabins.
Some of the parrots which are at home here. Many of these animals have been rescued. They also have pheasants, green parrots, geese, and chickens.
These are pics from in town. We did need to run in for a couple of things. The bandstand and the church as well as the park benches are all covered with shards of ceramic tile. They are very pretty and unique - I had never seen this done to such an extent in Costa Rica.
